    Removing barriers to a fresh start!

    Donations are used to create “Fresh Start Kits” for those entering recovery housing. These kits include: laundry basket, bedding, pillow, towel, wash cloth, hygiene items, feminine care products, cleaning supplies.

  • The zach ziehm memorial project

    Emergency Assistance for Grieving Families

    The ZZMP offers emergency financial assistance to families who experience the sudden loss of a loved one, due to overdose.

  • annual anti-stigma art exhibit

    Every March we honor the lives lost to overdose through artistic expression & community.

    Families photographed holding a black balloon & a photo of their loved one, advocate for change & understanding.

    Locals display their artwork centered around substance use, overdose, grief & recovery.

  • annual sober prom

    Recovery can be fun!

    This special event offers a night of fun, second chances, community & encouragement to those rebuilding their lives. Dj, dance floor, photobooth, appetizers & refreshments — what else do you need?!

    This event helps fund the work that BBP does throughout the year.

who we are

The Black Balloon Project was created in 2017 as a way to honor those we have lost to overdose.

Through artistic expression & community outreach — we aim to fight the stigma of addiction and to remove barriers for those in recovery & their families.
